🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴
🔴 Endometriosis is a condition where the tissue lining the inner surface of the womb is found in places outside the womb.
🔴 Endometriosis is usually found in the area where the womb, ovaries, fallopian tubes , bladder, rectum, vagina are found. This region is called pelvis.
🔴 The exact cause of Endometriosis is unknown, however, there are theories as to how it comes about.
🔴 Endometriosis is more common in skinny women and women who have a first line relative eg mother, sister, daughter who has Endometriosis.
🔴 Endometriosis can cause severe pain before and during menses, pain during sex, pain during passing stool, urinating or chronic pelvic or abdominal wall pain.
🔴 Some women however don't have any symptoms at all.
🔴 Endometriosis can also lead to infertility due to the mess it causes in the pelvic region ( organs usually stick together). If labs and scans are fine, its a good idea to have a laparoscopy done to see if organs in your pelvis are on and rule out Endometriosis as not everything can be seen on ultrasound scan .
🔴 If you have Endometriosis, your symptoms do not directly describe or show how serious your Endometriosis is.
🔴 The location of your Endometriosis is usually responsible for the symptoms you experience.
🔴 Though rare, some women experience the following symptoms during menses due to the location of the Endometriosis they have :
💥 Eyes ( eye region) : They bleed from their eyes during menses
💥 Brain : They have seizures during menses
💥 Lungs : They cough blood or have chest pain during menses
💥 Bladder : They urinate blood or find it painful urinating during menses
💥 Rectum: They poop blood or have painful pooping episodes during menses.
💥 Lips : They bleed from their lips during menses
💥 Nose : They bleed from their nose during menses
🔴 Treatment depends on the symptoms you have and whether you are planning to have children or not ( Hormonal treatment or with surgery) .
🔴 If you have any of these symptoms, its important to get checked by your obgyn to help diagnose and manage your symptoms better.
