Inflammatory Breast Cancer

🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑

🛑 Inflammatory breast cancer is a rare and very aggressive disease

🛑 This type of breast cancer is called inflammatory because the breast often looks swollen and red or inflamed.

🛑 Most inflammatory breast cancers are invasive ductal carcinomas, which means they developed from cells that line the milk ducts of the breast and then spread beyond the ducts. ( photo below)

🛑 Inflammatory breast cancer progresses rapidly, usually in a matter of weeks or months.

🛑 Usually at the time of diagnosis, it is either stage III or IV disease. This is not a good diagnosis.

🛑 Inflammatory breast cancer is usually diagnosed in younger people.

🛑It can also be seen in older men sometimes.

🛑 Its more commonly diagnosed in people of African descent.

🛑 Inflammatory breast cancers usually cannot be treated with hormonal therapy.

🛑 It is more common in obese women than in women of normal weight.

Symptoms of Inflammatory breast cancer

🛑🛑🛑🛑

🛑 Swelling and redness that affects almost your entire breast

🛑The skin of your breast may also appear pink, reddish purple or bruised.

🛑 The skin of your breast may have ridges or appear pitted, like the skin of an orange

🛑 Sometimes your breast may contain a solid tumor that can be felt during a physical exam, but more often a tumor cannot be felt

🛑 Your breast suddenly and quickly increases in size, becomes heavy

🛑 You might have a sensations of heaviness, burning, or tenderness your breast

🛑 Your nipple might begin to grow inwards ( becomes inverted)

🛑 You have swollen lymph nodes . These may be present under the arm, near the collarbone or both

🛑 Because these symptoms can be a sign of other breast conditions that are not cancer, diagnosis can often be delayed.

🛑 Inflammatory breast cancer can be difficult to diagnose.

🛑 Usually, there is no lump that can be felt during a physical exam or seen in a screening mammogram.

🛑 Most women diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer have dense breast tissue, which makes cancer detection in a screening mammogram more difficult.

🛑Because inflammatory breast cancer is so aggressive, it can arise between scheduled screening mammograms and progress quickly.

🛑 If your symptoms occur very quickly, your doctor might take a sample from your breast to help make a diagnosis.

🛑 You might be asked to do a MRI or PET scan or CT scan based on your doctor's discretion.

🛑 Treatment is usually via chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgical removal of the breast and lymph nodes . Your doctor will also plan your treatment based on your condition.

🛑Many factors can influence whether treatment will be successful and how long you will live.

🛑 This depends on the type and location of the cancer, the stage of the disease, your age and how healthy you are, and whether you will respondsto treatment or not.

🛑 Women diagnosed with this cancer do not survive as long as women diagnosed with other types of breast cancer because it spreads very quickly.

❗If you notice any of these above symptoms, please see a doctor who specializes in breast disorders ASAP. No pastors or herbs. Any delay can lead you to lose your life. You should love your life enough to make the right decisions .

🛑 Get your breast checked , keep your weight healthy and always remember, EARLY DETECTION SAVES LIVES.
